Owner says a couple of new locations are possibilities
By Bob Seidenberg
Edzo’s Burger Shop at 1571 Sherman Ave., known for its fresh-made burgers and creative toppings, will be closing this Saturday, Dec. 21st, after 15 years, its founder Eddie Lakin wrote in a Facebook post a short while ago. Lakin said he’s exploring other locations but there’s “nothing for sure” yet.

Sad news, friends.
It has been a wonderful 15 years, but Edzo’s is going to be closing its doors and shutting down at the end of this week. Our last day of service will be Saturday the 21st.
I’ve been looking for new locations for a while and have a couple possibilities, but nothing for sure, so while we may resurface, we are going to have to say goodbye for now, and thanks to you all for 15 amazing years in #Evanston.
When I opened in 2009, my kids were 3 and 1. Now they’re 19 and 16. My life is in a different place than it was back then, it’s time to regroup and reassess. it’s been a really good run. I’m blessed to have had all the support we’ve enjoyed from the community and only hope that we’ve given back as much love and good memories as we’ve gotten.
We will miss all the people that have passed through our doors, employees, customers, vendors, every relationship I’ve formed over the years has been meaningful. I’ve tried every day to live my values and run Edzo’s in a way that’s been true to my principles and I’m so grateful that the Evanston community afforded me the opportunity to do that successfully for 15 amazing years. No regrets! I wouldn’t change a thing.
So come see us this week, let’s hug, reminisce, and enjoy Edzo’s burgers, fries and shakes one last time and end it on a high note. Thanks for a great 15 years and hopefully we will rise again soon in new location! —Eddie
