Evanston officials issued a weather alert this afternoon, encouraging residents to report downed power lines and emergencies to 911, after a severe mid-summer storm hit the area Monday, causing street flooding in some places.
Service on the CTA’s Purple Line was temporary suspended around 1:29 p.m., due to debris on the track near Central Street, the CTA reported.
Evanston public works crews, forestry staff, 311, and first responders are on alert, the city reported, and prepared to respond to any issues that arise.
According to the National Weather Service, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 7 p.m., this evening, officials said.
